Love Says What?

Pastor Steve shares the morning with the youth of our church. The youth gave us a presentation from the Junior High Work Camp and the a presentation from the National Junior High Conference. As each one spoke, it sounded like they had fantastic learning and working experiences, made new friends, and had a lot of fun.

Then Steve gave us a brief sermon about love.

Church of the Gospel vs Gospel of the Church

Galatians 5: 1-26

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Faith must be expressed in love.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Live by the Spirit.

Church is a "called out people" of God, not a building, place, or an institution.
The church is built upon the solid rock of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ has died, to save us sinners, and to set us free.
We are saved by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and not the mission of the Church.
Nothing is more important in the church than Jesus Christ.
The Spirit of the Gospel holds us accountable to God.
If you have not brought a soul to Christ, has your life had impact and meaning as God has designed.
You are saved by God's amazing Grace.

My notes do not do this sermon justice. This is another sermon you will want to share.

The Gospel of Grace

Linda starts by reading Galatians 3.
Then she really got into the meaning of Galatians 3.

We are all children of God through faith, and are all one in Jesus Christ, through the gospel of grace.
We are saved by grace through faith.

This is a must listen to message, and one you may want to share with others.

1 Peter 1:1-12 (NIV)

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise to God for a Living Hope

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Thank you to Jessica Snyder, for sharing the gift of your beautiful voice. She sang three hymns during the service, which were absolutely beautiful.
